Pete Cheng is a partner of Jade &Fountain PRC Lawyers. Pete specializes in corporate commercial litigation and arbitration, non-litigation legal services, bankruptcy and insolvency and defense in commercial crimes. Pete studied at Law School of Tongji University and Glasgow University successively, and achieved his LL.M in commercial law in The UK.
Pete's practice mainly covers commercial compliance, protection of equity and property rights in M&A, construction and bankruptcy liquidation. Pete's deep insight in commercial lawsuits, criminal cases and arbitration cases and his outstanding performance in court hearing are highly regarded by clients.
Recent cases where Pete has acted as the chief attorney-at-law include the high-valued financing cases of domestic and foreign financial institutions and the M&A projects. Pete also provides legal services on a long-term basis for municipal and district government institutions, large state-owned enterprises and prestigious private enterprises.
Pete has practised law with J&F for over a decade and has also been nominated for and received numerous awards: the Shanghai May 4th Youth Medal, the Advanced Individual of Shanghai Bar Association in Poverty Alleviation, the Top Ten Lawyers of Changning District, the Advanced Lawyer of the Litigation Case of Changning District, nomination for the Outstanding Youth Pacesetter of Changning District, the Advanced Individual for the Legal Service of Changning District etc. Pete is deputy director of Youth Working Committee under Shanghai Bar Association, member of Lawyer's Law Committee under Shanghai Law Society, member of Shanghai Commercial Disputes Research Committee, member of CPPCC of Changning District, director of Social and Legal Affairs Committee of Revolutionary Committee of Changning District, member of Council of Intellectuals of Changning District, in addition, Pete also serves as an external tutor of Fudan University, Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, Shanghai Normal University and other institutions.
